Furthermore, snoring can be a sign of the presence of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. This condition involves periodic poor oxygen supply to the body due to airway obstruction. It poses a great threat to your health and if present, should be treated promptly and professionally.
If Obstructive Sleep Apnoea is suspected, you may need a formal assessment by an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) surgeon or a Sleep Physician. These specialists may conduct a sleep study to determine if Obstructive Sleep Apnoea is in fact present and to what extent.
Some forms of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and snoring may be treated with an anti-snoring appliance called a Mandibular Advancement Splint (MAS). Vantage Dental is proud to supply such appliances. They are custom made and fitted for the individual by taking moulds of the teeth and jaw, before being manufactured by a technician.
